Government Description
Contractor assistance in collecting bse samples from cattle. Bse surveillance program in accordance with the animal health protection act (7 USC ch. 109). The ongoing surveillance program requires brain stem samples to be collected from cattle in the targeted populations geographically dispersed across the United States. Contractors are responsible for identifying eligible cattle, collecting and documenting brain stem samples, entering data into the vsls system, packaging and shipping samples to designated laboratories, and using appropriate tools provided by nvsl while ensuring proper cleaning to avoid cross-contamination. The targeted population includes cattle 12 months of age or older from clinical suspect, disabled, and fallen stock surveillance streams as outlined by woah, with training provided by vs prior to sample collection.
