Overview

Grant Description
Purpose: This grant would facilitate the operation and management of Kenosha Area Transit mass transit system.

Activities to be performed: Kenosha Area Transit provides bus rides, para-transit equipment maintenance, minor repairs, safety standard, security standard, operations standard, electric car rides, and human capital management facility maintenance and operation management.

Expected outcomes: Citizens being gainfully employed, elders meeting daily life obligations, students getting to schools, citizens' welfare and well-being maintained, equipment safely operational, and overall quality of life of the community uplifted and empowered.

Intended beneficiaries: Unemployed members of the community, elders, disabled students, businesses, and the community overall vitality.

Sub-recipient activities: Elders getting about their daily life and disabled getting about and meeting their daily appointments.

This application requests funding for operating assistance and preventive maintenance for a total of $2,370,024 with $1,529,818 local match and $1,624,711 state.

The federal funds are from the following program:
- FY 2021 Section 5307 providing $2,282,024 for operating assistance.
- FY 2021 State of Good Road Repair amount of $82,571 for preventive maintenance.

The matching funds in the amount of $1,529,818 will come from tax levy by the City of Kenosha and property taxes. The $1,624,711 is from Wisconsin 85.20 Urban Mass Transportation Assistance Program.

The execution of this grant would certify that projects funded in this grant are included in the 2021 Transit Asset Management Prioritization section.

Attached documents to this grant application are the following: FTA STIP approval letter dated July 30th, 2021. Section 5307 FY 2021 allocation letter, Section 5337 apportionment notices for TY 22021, and TIP SEWRPC approval letter dated 12/14/20.
