Grant Description
Application purpose: The purpose of this grant is to purchase approximately thirty (30) no-emission buses to replace buses that are at or beyond their useful life to provide financial support for King County Metro's no-emission bus workforce development programs and for related indirect costs.

Activities performed: Activities to be performed are related to no-emission buses: 1) Purchase approximately thirty (30) no-emission buses to replace buses that are at or beyond their useful life; 2) Expand Metro's 48-month registered apprenticeship programs (four new apprentices); 3) Expand supportive services to help purchase tools and provide dependent care (ten apprentices); 4) Provide inclusive community outreach events to promote career pathways targeting residents in underserved communities; and 5) Include train-the-trainer classes (fifteen classes) for Metro's no-emission bus training academy to support advanced workforce training.

Expected outcomes: The outcomes related to no-emission buses include maintaining safe and reliable transit service for Metro transit customers, increased apprenticeship opportunities, enhanced support services for apprentices, expanded community engagement promoting equitable career pathways, and advanced workforce training through specialized programs fostering a skilled and inclusive transit workforce.
