Grant Description
Application Purpose: The Section 165 funds will provide financial support needed to design and build the Lynnwood Link Extension (LLE), which provides new high-capacity transit service within the congested I-5 corridor connecting regional growth centers of Downtown Seattle, Northgate, and Lynnwood. The project will also provide access to University of Washington, the Eastside (King County), and Sea-Tac Airport.
Riders will enjoy fast, frequent, and reliable service with anticipated ride times of 20 minutes from Lynnwood to University of Washington, 28 minutes from Lynnwood to Downtown Seattle, and 60 minutes from Lynnwood to Sea-Tac Airport.
Activities performed: Activities to be undertaken with these funds include design and construction of the Lynnwood Link Light Rail Extension.
Expected outcomes: Benefits of the LLE project include providing new light rail service from Northgate (Seattle) to Lynnwood with connections to University of Washington, Downtown Seattle, Sea-Tac Airport, and East King County (Bellevue, Redmond, etc.).
Intended beneficiaries: Beneficiaries of the project include transit riders in the Sound Transit District, including urbanized areas of King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties.
Subrecipient activities: Not applicable.
