Overview
Grant Description
Purpose: This application includes $9,523,866 of 2021 Section 5337 funding for system-wide vessel preservation program activities, including rehab/improvement activities that will extend the useful life of the vessels as well as vessel preventive maintenance. By executing this grant, we certify that projects funded in this grant are included in the 2020 TAM Plan Investment Prioritization section.
Activities to be performed: System-wide vessel preservation and improvement to extend the useful life of the asset, including but not limited to the following: renovate, replace, and/or upgrade vessel systems, including steel structures, structural preservation systems, interior spaces, piping, and propulsion. Major mechanical/electrical, communication/navigation, lifesaving, and security equipment. It includes procurement of long-lead capital vessel components (owner furnished equipment) to be installed during shipyard periods. It may also include emergency repairs, hull maintenance and preservation, regulatory compliance, and enhancements for the WSF fleet.
Expected outcomes: The project will have some or all of the following benefits, depending on which specific vessel preservation and improvement projects are funded: sustain lowered fleet operating costs, sustain lowered equipment operating costs, reduce unscheduled repair, meet or exceed useful life, meet or exceed asset management plan, sustain ferry safety and security, increase service reliability, increase operational safety, improve system efficiency and reliability.
Intended beneficiaries: Ferry customers who utilize WSF ferry service throughout the WSF system.
Subrecipient activity: There are no subrecipients to this grant.
