Grant Description
Specific Award Purpose:
This application includes $4,621,546 (out of $4,871,549 available) in FY2020 Section 5339(b) funding as selected for award under the Rural Buses and Bus Facilities Discretionary Funding Program. Funds will be used to replace or purchase buses and related equipment in rural areas of Washington State. The remaining balance from this competitive allocation will be obligated in a subsequent grant amendment.
Activities to be Performed:
- Purchase and replace vehicles in the heavy-duty bus paratransit vehicle and ADA minivan categories.
- Conduct ADA training.
- Replace an old underground fuel tank with a newer above-ground one.
Expected Outcomes:
- Increase safety and performance by replacing older vehicles with newer ones.
- Better compliance with safety and environmental standards by installing a new above-ground fuel tank instead of the old underground one.
Intended Beneficiaries:
Public transportation customers who utilize public transportation services across the state of Washington.
Subrecipient Activity:
- Follow proper procurement processes to purchase new vehicles.
- Subrecipients may choose to conduct their own procurement or use the state cooperative master contract to purchase the vehicles.
- Complete the proper NEPA process for the fuel tank replacement project.
- Remove the old fuel tank and install a new one above ground.
