Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Application Purpose: UTA applies lapsing FFY2019 Large Urban Discretionary 5339(B) funds D2020-BUSC-087 in the full award amount of $3,220,250 federal to construct five operator restroom facilities and improve over 150 bus stops across the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) service area.
Activities Performed: This grant application is for the construction of five operator restroom facilities and improving up to 150 bus stops. The operator restrooms will include the installation of ADA compliant facilities and additional amenities such as a breakroom. The selected locations are the top five end line stations for rail and bus operations.
This grant will also include the installation and rehabilitation of up to 150 bus stops. The bus stops were prioritized from UTA's Bus Stop Master Plan. The master plan established a common set of goals, design principles, guidelines, and policies to promote consistency in design and provision of bus stops and their associated amenities. The bus stop improvements will include the installation of ADA compliant concrete pads, shelters, benches, trash cans, lighting, and bike racks as appropriate for each bus stop location.
Expected Outcomes: The operator restroom facilities will provide safe and modern restrooms for UTA bus/rail operators and workers and will also provide the operators with a breakroom where they can take needed breaks. The bus stop improvements will improve access to UTA's bus stops, particularly for members of the ADA community.
Intended Beneficiaries: The operator restroom facilities benefit UTA bus/rail operators and workers by enhancing existing working conditions and providing safe relief areas. The bus stop improvements project will benefit current and future bus riders, including members of the ADA community, who will have improved access to ADA compliant bus stops. Improving the ADA accessibility of the fixed route bus stops provides more opportunities for paratransit riders to transition to fixed route services, thereby reducing UTA operating costs.
Subrecipient Activities: There are no subrecipient activities on this grant.
