Grant Description
Application Purpose: Funding will be used to meet the transportation needs of rural transit riders by supporting a significant construction project in rural Utah intercity bus service and RTAP.
Activities Performed: Activities include construction of a headquarters and maintenance facility for High Valley Transit intercity bus operating for Salt Lake Express and RTAP funding for training, management education, advocacy, and networking opportunities for rural transportation providers and their staff in Utah.
Expected Outcomes: The grant will ensure continuation of transit service in the rural areas of the state, allowing continued access to opportunities (e.g. employment, education, healthcare, social, etc.) and improving quality of life.
Intended Beneficiaries: Rural transit riders and intercity bus riders in Utah are the intended beneficiaries of the grant.
Subrecipient Activities: One (1) rural agency and one (1) intercity bus provider were selected to receive funds. Subrecipient activities include a capital/construction project for High Valley Transit (HVT), intercity bus operating assistance for Western Trails Charter and Tours LLC (dba Salt Lake Express), and RTAP will be spent for training purposes.
