Grant Description
Application Purpose: Funding will be used to meet the transportation needs of rural transit riders by supporting capital needs, operating project administration, and intercity bus operating expenses.
Activities Performed: The grant scope of work includes the purchase of one replacement bus, one replacement van, and construction activities for bus shelter improvements. The scope of work also includes operating project management and intercity bus operating activities.
Expected Outcomes: The grant will ensure the continuation of transit service in the rural areas of the state, thus increasing access to opportunities (e.g. employment, education, healthcare, social, etc.) and improving quality of life.
Intended Beneficiaries: Rural transit riders and intercity bus riders in Utah are the intended beneficiaries of the grant.
Subrecipient Activities: Three rural agencies and one intercity bus provider were selected to receive funds. Subrecipient activities include the purchase of one (1) replacement bus and one (1) replacement van (both ADA-compliant) for Cedar Area Transit System (CATS), operating assistance for CATS and Uintah Basin Association of Governments (UBAOG), project administration for UBAOG, construction activities for Park City Transit bus shelter improvements, and intercity bus operating assistance for Western Trails Charter and Tours LLC (DBA Salt Lake Express).
