Overview

Grant Description
Application purpose: Sun Metro seeks to build a more reliable bus fleet by replacing 32 aged buses which have exceeded their useful life and constructing four bus canopies to support the entire CNG bus fleet.

This project supports Sun Metro's commitment to offer reliable public transit, reduce harmful emissions, and improve service for the community.

Activities performed: Funds will be utilized for the following items: CNG buses (35-foot low floor) construction of bus canopies.

Expected outcomes: By replacing buses which have far exceeded their useful life, Sun Metro will have lower operational costs, fewer harmful emissions in our community, and easier access to reliable public transportation for the transit riding public in the city of El Paso.

Additionally, the bus canopies will support the good operating condition of the buses, protecting them from damage such as harsh sun exposure.

Intended beneficiaries: Residents and customers of the El Paso Sun Metro transit service area.
