Grant Description
Application purpose: Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will receive funding to buy new compressed natural gas fueled buses to replace older buses.
Activities performed: Purchase of 186 natural gas buses. This is the first lot of a total of 522 buses to be purchased over the course of four years replacing a total of 476 NABI buses (ranging from 2012 to 2014 model years) and 46 new Flyer suburban buses (model year 2016).
Expected outcomes: Overall project goal: Replacement of more than 90% of DART's current fleet with new lower-emission buses. New buses will further reduce NOx emissions from the standards in place at the time of the original buses purchases by more than 80%. Carbon monoxide emissions will be reduced by 95%.
Intended beneficiaries: DART riders/passengers and internal clients (bus operators and mechanics).
Subrecipient activities: None.
