Overview
Grant Description
Under this agreement, the recipient, North Kern Water Storage District (NKWSD), located near the city of Bakersfield, will drill and equip a 6CFS groundwater well and connect it to the Friant Kern Canal through a discharge pipeline.
This project will convey and return 1,999 acre-feet per year of previously stored water to downstream banking partners.
NKWSD is a member in the Poso Creek Integrated Regional Water Management Group, and this project is identified as high priority in their Poso Creek Drought Contingency Plan that was developed with assistance from a WaterSMART Drought Contingency Planning Grant.
The project is located near the city of Bakersfield, California.
The well will be constructed at approximately 3527 47.64 N, 11911 19.74 W and will be connected to the Friant Kern Canal (FKC), via a pipeline starting at the well location and ending at approximately 3529 13.15 N, 11911 17.41 W.
The deliverable major components of the project include but are not limited to drilling and equipping one 6 CFS capacity well, installing pipeline from the well and connecting to the FKC, and constructing a discharge into the FKC beneficiaries, the public.
