Overview

Grant Description
Selected through Notice of Funding Opportunity No. R24AS00007, the City of Springfield via Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission (MWMC) will upgrade existing infrastructure for water filtering, disinfection, and storage, and add pumping and distribution capacity to produce Class A recycled water for public works and industrial uses.

This project will divert treated wastewater from river discharge to beneficial uses and reduce temperature impacts on the Willamette River's salmon rearing and spawning habitat while also mitigating drought.

When implemented, this project will add approximately 850 acre-feet per year to the water supply system, accounting for 5% of average water demand in the area.

This project is supported by the Eugene-Springfield Area Multijurisdictional Natural Hazardous Mitigation Plan.
