Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
The Chickasaw Nation, a tribe in eastern Oklahoma, will alleviate water quality issues affecting Connerville through an interconnection and a water treatment plant to treat existing water supplies in Wapanucka.
The wells that currently supply these communities have Escherichia coli and total coliform bacteria, and Connerville also has a spreading plume of gasoline in their groundwater.
The Chickasaw Nation, currently experiencing an extreme drought, estimates that the project will provide clean drinking water to 560 residents.
The project will implement the water resource planning guide called the Oka Holisso which will assist tribal and other water planners with implementing these types of projects.
