Project Grant

Overview

Grant Description
The Lugert-Altus Irrigation District, located in southwestern Oklahoma, will convert four miles of the earthen open Ozark Canal to a buried 65-inch high-density polyethylene pipeline.
The project is expected to result in annual water savings of 1,130 acre-feet, currently lost to seepage, evaporation, and operational inefficiencies.
Conserved water will remain in the Lugert-Altus Reservoir, benefitting fish and wildlife, and can be made available to avoid reduced allocations during drought conditions.
