Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
This agreement covers the activities necessary for design and construction of the East County Advanced Water Purification Program Phase 2 Project. The project will create 8,960 acre feet per year or 8 million gallons per day of advanced treated recycled water from the Advanced Water Purification Facility, allowing an offset of an equal amount of imported water.
The project will increase the Ray Stoyer Water Recycling Facility treatment capacity to 15 million gallons per day and will expand the Advanced Water Purification Facility to 11.5 million gallons per day. It will include microfiltration, reverse osmosis, brine minimization process, ultraviolet oxidation, free chlorination, and post stabilization.
In addition to the benefits realized through offsetting imported water demands, this project will also divert wastewater flows that otherwise would have been treated and discharged to the Pacific Ocean. It will support aquatic life in the lakes and help to maintain or bolster benefits of recreation activities at the lakes.
