Grant Description
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation applied for and received FFY 2018 5339 Bus and Bus Facilities funding in the amount of $7,000,000 for its Fixed Route Intelligent Transportation System (FRITS) project. The project will be implemented in 32 transit systems and will offer real-time service information for passengers, business intelligence reporting system, enhanced transit planning, and statewide reporting database.
On September 25, 2018, the Federal Transit Administration announced the selection of projects funded under the FFY 2018 FTA Buses and Bus Facilities Infrastructure Investment Program. In this announcement, as detailed in the selection of projects listed in FRN 2019-04113, PennDOT was selected to receive $7,000,000 in FTA FFY 2018 Bus and Bus Facilities funds. A copy of the competitive application proposal is attached.
Purpose of award: Install Fixed Route Intelligent Transportation System (FRITS) on 32 transit systems across the state.
Activities to be performed: Install ITS system on 32 systems to aggregate data across the state.
Expected outcomes: Offer real-time service information for passengers, business intelligence reporting system, and enhanced transit planning.
