Project Grant

Overview

Grant Description
Ohio Department of Natural Resources will subgrant to its Division of Wildlife.

The Division of Wildlife will construct a primitive campground with a showerhouse restroom within a special management unit at the Appalachian Hills Wildlife Area and Jesse Owens State Park.

Additionally, an existing structure will be renovated to provide restrooms and overlook areas with viewing scopes of a display of bison.

The Division of Wildlife will also construct additional amenities at the site, including an outdoor pavilion, trails, fences, utilities, parking and landscaping.

The proposed improvements will provide recreational access to thousands of acres of public lands with recreational offerings centered around a display of bison in their natural grassland habitat.

Renovations and new construction will support a host of recreational experiences in the area including camping, hiking and bison viewing and observation.

Restrooms, a pavilion and parking will round out the amenities provided to visitors.

The outcome of this project will be to improve access and offer robust recreational programming, attracting visitors to the Appalachian Hills region.
