Grant Description
The Zacate Creek Project is located on the bank of the Rio Grande River, a half-mile west of the US Customs borders in Laredo, Texas.

The proposed development will provide new park activities for neighboring residents of the El Azteca community while restoring and improving a critical section of Zacate Creek - a key Laredo tributary to the Rio Grande - and providing a unique recreational landmark for residents to enjoy.

The project is the cornerstone that will catalyze the recreational activity in the area and provide a truly unique amenity that residents can enjoy, plus features that can better directly serve the underserved communities within the project area.

This project will enliven this space and provide a barrier-free place for people of all economic, physical, and social backgrounds to enjoy.
Funding Goals
THE NOTICE OF FUNDING OPPORTUNITY IS INTENDED TO ENGAGE PARTNERS IN PROJECTS TO ADVANCE THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE SUBJECT PROGRAM. THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE (NPS) IS SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR THIS NOFO THAT MEET THE PURPOSE AND FOCUS OF THE SUBJECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. SUCCESSFUL APPLICATIONS WILL INCLUDE ACTIVITIES THAT DIRECTLY SUPPORT THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM.
