Grant Description
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has submitted a grant proposal with Passaic County (subrecipient) to renovate and enhance a neighborhood park and community space located in the East Passaic neighborhood of the City of Passaic, NJ.
The proposed project consists of the following:
Professional architecture and design services.
Demolition, site clearing, and grading with tree removal.
Installation of concrete walkways, pavers, and asphalt.
Purchase and installation of picnic tables, benches, tables and chairs, fencing, gates, and barrier rails.
Purchase and installation of safety surface, play and fitness equipment.
Installation of a retaining wall and handrails.
Repairs to masonry walls, concrete coping and railing.
Installation of new utilities including electrical, lighting and stormwater control.
Purchase and installation of new landscaping topsoil, seed and a variety of plants, shrubs and trees.
This project implements the City’s vision for a greenway and recreation complex in Passaic, NJ, along the river and maintains the momentum to revitalize these public riverfront recreational amenities.
It is of great importance to residents, who will be able to experience all the vital social, health, and climate resilience benefits that close-to-home nature provides.
The grant was competed through the ORLP program.
