Grant Description
The California Department of Parks and Recreation will subgrant the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) award to Hayward Area Recreation and Park District to create the new East 14th Street Park.
The new park will include a walking, jogging, kids biking trail loop, play area with climbable tactile wall, water element, landscaping, seating areas, park entry, a multi-use active zone to function as sports courts and events plaza, open space lawn area, seating area with shade structure, play area with swings and playground, restroom structure, lighting, fencing, and accessible wayfinding features.
This project will benefit a densely populated, park-poor part of the neighborhood that lacks trees and green space, providing new outdoor recreation opportunities within walking distance for the surrounding communities.
