Grant Description
The Natural Resource Stewardship Program is the principle means through which the NPS evaluates and improves the health of watersheds, landscapes, and marine and coastal resources, sustains biological communities on the lands and waters in parks, and actively endeavors to improve the resiliency of these natural resources and adapt them to the effects of climate change.

This project is to cooperatively produce a book titled BROWN BEARS IN ALASKAS NATIONAL PARKS: CONSERVATION OF A WILDERNESS ICON IN THE LAST FRONTIER edited by the National Park Service personnel and published by the University Press of Colorado (UPC). The book will be housed in NPS parks and offices.

The public purpose of this agreement is to communicate decades of science resulting from the study of brown bears in Alaska to the public in an enjoyable and easy-to-understand format. This natural, cultural, and historical perspective will be of interest to the scientific community as well as the public interested in bears and Alaska.

The general public, the scientific community, and or researchers external to NPS will gain new knowledge provided through research and related results dissemination.

Beneficiaries include: private nonprofit institution organization, state, local, public nonprofit institution organization, other public institution organization.
