Grant Description
The Emerald Trail Stewards (ETS) will be a green workforce training and brownfield education program. Stewards will be residents from the 14 Emerald Trail neighborhoods and trained to install and maintain the native landscapes and green infrastructure along the Emerald Trail through a combination of classroom and on the job training.
Funding through this agreement will support the creation of a six month training program, including curriculum and course work that leads to professional certifications in horticulture, landscape design, and clean water conservation. Hiring and training twelve community members as Emerald Trail Stewards and certifying five stewards as clean water professionals, horticultural professionals, and landscape technicians.
Steward participants will be paid a graduated stipend that increases with successful certification. Beneficiaries include profit organizations, public nonprofit institutions organizations, private nonprofit institutions organizations, non federal government entities, industry and public decision makers, research scientists, engineers, and the general public.
