Overview
Grant Description
The American Samoa Department of Parks and Recreation will use the LWCF award to replace four playgrounds at three territory-owned parks. OneSosopo Park will be enhanced with two new playgrounds, and Pago Pago Park and Lions Park will both be enhanced with one new playground each.
The two playgrounds at OneSosopo Park will be for 2-5 year olds and 5-12 year olds. Pago Pago's playground will be a 5-12 year old playground, and Lions Park's playground will be for 2-5 year olds.
In addition, one of the playgrounds at OneSosopo and the one at Pago Pago will include an adjacent fitness circuit feature for older children and adults, which will be shaded. Plus, either a covered seating area or picnic area.
Residents of Tutuila Island will benefit from rehabbed parks that will offer improved recreation amenities for children.
