Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
The NY State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will make renovation upgrades to the track and field at the Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park. Due to its intensive use, the park's track and turf badly need replacing. The sports field was replaced approximately 10 years ago, and that replacement has outlived its usefulness, resulting in tripping hazards and portions of the field being removed.
Riverbank is in the historically underserved area of West Harlem and provides its residents affordable recreation, afterschool classes, youth and team sports, and programming for senior citizens and families. By replacing the track and field turf, residents will have available to them upgraded recreational facilities, improved safety at the park, and meeting the state's goal of repairing aging infrastructure.
