Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
The California Department of Parks and Recreation will subgrant the LWCF award to the City of Bell Gardens to replace the existing non-operable pool at John Anson Ford Park with a new competition-sized pool, an activity pool, and a therapeutic pool. All three pools will be accessible. Additionally, an existing building will be renovated into a changing facility with restrooms and showers.
The new regional aquatic center complex will also be improved with a slide, permanent bleachers, shade canopies, fencing, and landscaping. This project will benefit a disadvantaged community, as more than 12,000 residents live within a half-mile of this facility. Children, seniors, and at-risk youth are particularly expected to benefit from the opportunity to take swim lessons, aquatic-based fitness classes, and engage in other water-based recreation activities.
