Mostly at a park level, projects encompass a broad range of research, operational, and educational activities across all aspects of cultural resource stewardship activities, including but not limited to inventory, monitoring, research, rehabilitation, reconstruction, restoration, preservation, documentation, data recovery, education, and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The recipient will implement its field training program by offering three full-time, 12-week sessions each year to a target of 24 annual participants and complete associated preservation maintenance projects developed collaboratively. The recipient will also provide its career placement program throughout the term of the agreement.
The CPI program at Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) will continue to:
1. Engage and train soon-to-be veterans as park stewards and future industry leaders.
2. Develop collaborations with industry and academic experts as they align with broader cultural resource preservation objectives of GGNRA.
3. Research and utilize advanced preservation techniques for harsh environments.
4. Monitor, repair, and preserve the historic seacoast fortifications and other resources within the GGNRA.
Beneficiaries include state and local governments, federally recognized Indian tribal governments, nonprofit organizations, educational or scientific institutions, associations, and individuals.
