Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Application Purpose: This initial grant application includes FY 2022 Section 5339(b) buses bus facilities competitive program funds for preliminary engineering and project management activities related to the TriMet Beaverton Transit Center bus layover improvement project. The remaining funds will be added when NEPA is completed which is estimated in February 2024.
Activities Performed: The initial award is for the design and engineering necessary to improve the Beaverton Transit Center (BTC).
Expected Outcomes: The initial award will result in the completion of preliminary engineering and NEPA analysis of the proposed updates to Beaverton Transit Center.
Intended Beneficiaries: Beaverton Transit Center is a major transfer point for accessing employment centers throughout Washington County. Reliable accessible transit reduces barriers to employment in growth industries and provides upward mobility for historically disadvantaged communities that have a higher percentage of transit dependent individuals than the regional average. Reconfiguration of this site not only increases safety for pedestrians using the transit center but will also increase reliability of bus services. This project supports the Justice40 initiative as BTC is a major transfer point for 10 bus lines including TriMet Line 57 which provides service in 12 different census tracts identified as historically disadvantaged between Beaverton Transit Center and Forest Grove.
Subrecipient Activities: The recipient does not intend to subaward funds.
