Project Grant

Overview

Grant Description
Application Purpose: This initial grant application includes funds awarded under the FY 2023 Community Project Funding/Congressionally Directed Spending for preliminary engineering and project management activities related to TriMet's Oregon City Transit Center redesign project (Discretionary ID #2023-CMPJ-095). The remaining $4,437,885 will be added when NEPA is completed, which is estimated in February 2024.

Activities Performed: The eventual project, as envisioned, will update the existing transit center with new bus layover facilities, a new operator break room, and relocate passenger stops to increase the capacity of the transit center. The initial project is for design and engineering only.

Expected Outcomes: Oregon City Transit Center serves eight (8) bus lines and is a key transfer location for buses traveling to high employment areas serving essential workers. Completion of this project is essential to increase capacity for more buses and operators at the transit center, which is necessary to expand bus service. This project also supports TriMet and partner transit agencies' long-term goals to increase ridership through new and increased bus service in Clackamas County, specifically between downtown Oregon City and Happy Valley on Jennings Highway 212 and SE Sunnyside.

Intended Beneficiaries: Improvements at Oregon Transit Center will benefit TriMet riders by increasing service in Clackamas County and improve operator comfort.

Subrecipient Activities: The recipient does not intend to subaward funds.
