Formula Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Application Purpose: The purpose of this grant is for TriMet to use FY2022 Section 5339(a) formula funds to purchase approximately four (4) 40-foot zero emission battery electric replacement buses.
Activities Performed: FY2022 Section 5339(a) funds will be used to purchase approximately four (4) new 40-foot battery electric buses from a larger contractual agreement of 24 forty-foot zero emission battery electric buses for replacement purposes. Additional FTA funds for this larger purchase is referenced under 1728-2022-3.
Expected Outcomes: Continued reliable bus services and sustained vehicle safety and security. Consistency with TriMet's fleet progression plan and FTA's useful life policy for large heavy-duty transit buses. Reduction of bus maintenance costs due to simpler drivetrains, absence of fueling and exhaust systems, fuel costs, among other things. Social/global savings (i.e. reduced emissions, noise).
Intended Beneficiaries: TriMet riders will benefit from continued reliable bus services and sustained vehicle safety and security. Transit is a critical component to Oregon's clean energy future, and powering TriMet buses with clean renewable electricity is a necessary step to meet our community's decarbonization goals.
