Overview
Grant Description
This grant is applying for D2020-BUSC-168 FY2020 Section 5339(B) funds in the amount of $9,120,000 with a local share amount of $2,280,000 for a total eligible cost of $11,400,000. ODOT was also awarded $1,452,554 for rolling stock projects in the same discretionary 5339B round, but those funds have been applied for in OK-2022-001.
The funds programmed under this grant will provide financial assistance for 1 subrecipient to be used for the construction of an operation and maintenance facility.
Purpose of the award: Discretionary 5339B funds, which will partially fund the construction of a transit operations and maintenance facility.
Activities to be performed: This award includes funding for transit operations and maintenance facility construction activities.
Expected outcomes: The award will allow Oklahoma State University to construct a new facility to replace their current aging facility. This will allow OSU to better meet the needs of the public.
Intended beneficiaries: The transit patrons of Oklahoma State University.
Subrecipient activities: The construction of the facility will allow Oklahoma State University to provide improved, reliable, and accessible transit services to the public in accordance with all required guidelines.
The Oklahoma State University (OSU) is constructing a transit operations and maintenance facility (TOMF) to replace their current 52-year-old maintenance facility. The project site is located at the southeast quadrant of West Lakeview Avenue and North Western Road in Stillwater, Payne County, Oklahoma. The site is a 20-acre tract of land and consists of two primary areas: the existing transit station on the west side and a larger undeveloped portion on the east side.
This phased project, which is due to commence on Phase 2, will allow Oklahoma State University to consolidate their transportation services support personnel, equipment, and all related assets and functions to the new facility upon completion. This project will include constructing an approximate 75,000 sq. ft. operations and maintenance facility, which will have approximately 10-16 bays and parking for 100+ vehicles.
The transit operations and maintenance facility Phase 1 is currently being funded in multiple grants, which are as follows: OK-2019-003: FY2017 funds Section 5339(B): $2,400,000; OK-2018-023-01; FY2018 Section 5311: $800,000; FY2019 Section 5311: $800,000. Combined, these projects have a total local match of $1,000,000.
The transit operations and maintenance facility Phase 2 will be funded by the CARES Act grant: OK-2020-021.
For more information and milestones, please see the uploaded attachments related to the transit operations and maintenance facility.
