Grant Description
Application Purpose: The purpose of this award is to provide capital project funding for multiple projects including six (6) replacement fixed route transit vehicles facility rehabilitation and equipment. In addition, this award provides one (1) year of capitalized maintenance and planning assistance.

Activities Performed: The activities to be performed are revenue and support vehicle procurements including four (4) replacement clean diesel transit buses and two (2) replacement CNG buses and a support vehicle. Additional activities to be performed include facility rehabilitation maintenance and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment procurements as well as eligible capitalized maintenance and planning activities.

Expected Outcomes: The expected outcomes of the grant are to enable PARTA to replace outdated vehicles, lower the age of PARTA's fleet, reduce maintenance costs, and meet preventative maintenance standards. Other expected outcomes include keeping facilities in a state of good repair, sustaining operations, and improving service efficiency and system reliability.

Intended Beneficiaries: The intended beneficiaries of this funding are public transit riders in Portage County, Ohio, as well as passengers that utilize PARTA's express routes to Akron and Cleveland. This award will benefit riders by improving the safety and service reliability of public transit service. In addition, removing outdated diesel-fuel powered vehicles from Ohio's roads improves the air quality for all residents in the region, particularly within the counties that PARTA serves - Portage, Summit, and Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
