Grant Description
Application Purpose: The purpose of this award is to renovate the 30-year-old Frank R. Angeloro Memorial Facility. This facility houses the entirety of Laketran operations, including the maintenance bus garage, dispatch, customer service call center, and administrative offices. Additionally, this award will fund the construction of a building addition for offices and bus storage garage.
Activities Performed: Construction
Expected Outcomes: Funding will support the renovation of the Laketran facility, which will enhance the working environment for its employees. This improvement aims to improve efficiency of operations, workforce retention, and technology utilization. Additionally, the funding will be used to perform deferred maintenance activities. The construction of the building addition will provide more office and meeting room space, an improved training environment, the creation of an additional vehicle maintenance bay, and additional bus storage to accommodate the increasing size of Laketran's fleet. Laketran is growing its transit operations to provide more fixed routes, longer operating hours, and more door-to-door dial-a-ride services.
Intended Beneficiaries: Laketran employees will directly benefit from modernized work spaces. Lake County residents will benefit from increased transportation options, as the enlarged bus garage will allow Laketran to purchase more vehicles to provide more service.
Subrecipient Activities: Laketran has no subrecipients.
