Grant Description
Application purpose: The purpose of this award is to provide Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority $28,947,368 in FY23 Section 5339 discretionary low or no emissions program funding to support purchase of compressed natural gas buses.

Activities performed: This grant will fund a purchase towards forty-two (42) 40-foot compressed natural gas buses and to replace an equal number of life and mileage expired buses currently in revenue service as part of the NFTA-Metro bus fleet.

Expected outcomes: This project will help the NFTA reduce its overall average bus fleet age, minimize the number of buses out of service for repairs, and reduce the cost of fleet maintenance.

The purchase of replacement buses will reduce the frequency of breakdowns experienced by NFTA-Metro's life and mileage-expired fleet currently in service.
