Grant Description
Application Purpose: Tompkins County is applying for a total federal amount of $8,740,975 on behalf of Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit Inc. (TCAT), which provides transit service to the Ithaca, NY urbanized area. The funding is from the FY2022 Section 5339(c) Low or No Emission Grant Program. The competitive federal award was on August 16, 2022. The total project cost is $10,926,218, including matching funds.
This project will enable the purchase of six 40 ft. battery-electric buses, four small battery-electric buses, related maintenance equipment, workforce training, and the installation of two charging systems at the TCAT facility. The zero emissions plan is an attached application document.
