Overview

Grant Description
This award obligates Section 5337 funds apportioned to the UZA 1 (New York Area) in the amount of $186,200,000 of Trust Funds (TF) for LIRR projects. This award uses Transportation Development Credits for match ($37,240,000). The toll credit approvals for appropriations through and including FFY 2022 are attached.

The Section 5337 funds will be from New York Area (UZA1). This includes High Intensity Motorbus (HIM) funds. The HIM funds were subject to a regional sub-allocation at the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC). The MTA was allocated funds by NYMTC resolutions in FFY 2021 ($9,532,734 Reso. #544) and FFY 2022 ($14,379,313 - Reso. #544) and subsequent joint MTA and NYCDOT split agreements. The sub-allocated HIM funds will be used for LIRR Annual Track Program (PIN L8030104 TRAMS P7 P8 P9). A table is attached in TRAMS under application documents to show the amounts used by fiscal year and funding program (see file: MTA Funding Allocation _ Usage Availability_1786-2022-12).

The MTA requests that the FTA obligate the required funds for this application from the available fund balances.

Purpose - This award will assist the MTA to invest capital funding into its assets/infrastructure maintained by LIRR, including elevator and escalator replacement and the annual track maintenance program.

Activities to be performed - The application scope of work includes state of good repair projects for LIRR.

Expected outcomes - This application will support the MTA's need to rehabilitate and replace assets to achieve a state of good repair.

Intended beneficiaries - The MTA and its ridership.

Subrecipient activities - The MTA does not have subrecipients under this award.
