Grant Description
Application purpose: The purpose of this award is to expand TTD's low- and no-emissions bus fleet replacing six aging buses with six (6) new diesel-electric hybrid low-emission buses.

The fleet replacement project improves safety, reliability, mobility, and public health for the Lake Tahoe Basin's residents, commuters, and visitors with the support of $7,901,826 of FY 2024 FTA Section 5339(c) discretionary funds awarded to the Tahoe Transportation District (TTD) [UZA# 069950 - Lake Tahoe Region CA-NV], increasing TTD's fleet of cleaner fuel and low-emission buses within Lake Tahoe's acutely environmentally sensitive region.

Expected outcomes: The new hybrid buses will serve TTD's service area improving the public health within the region, the safety of the transit system, and the overall transit user experience.

The fleet replacement will boost service reliability through reductions in road calls and service interruptions, increasing on-time performance and moving TTD's rolling stock towards its transit asset management target.

Intended beneficiaries: The fleet replacement project improves safety, reliability, mobility, and public health for the Lake Tahoe Basin's residents, commuters, and visitors.

Funding Goals
THE LOW-NO PROGRAM PROVIDES FUNDING FOR THE PURCHASE OR LEASE OF ZERO-EMISSION AND LOW-EMISSION TRANSIT BUSES INCLUDING ACQUISITION CONSTRUCTION AND LEASING OF REQUIRED SUPPORTING FACILITIES SUCH AS RECHARGING REFUELING AND MAINTENANCE FACILITIES.
