NV-2023-006
Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Application Purpose:
The purpose of this award is to fund the purchase of thirty (30) 60 CNG fixed route replacement vehicles. Project funds are consistent with the RTC's current Transit Asset Management (TAM) plan which has been uploaded to TRAMS under application documents.
Activities Performed:
Thirty (30) fixed route bio-diesel hybrid articulated buses that operate in fixed route revenue service and have reached the end of their useful life will be replaced with thirty (30) 60 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses. All activities proposed in this application will take place within the boundaries of the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) district. There are no other transit providers in the service area.
Expected Outcomes:
The expected outcome of this project is the continued safe and effective operation of transit service for the residents of Clark County, NV.
Intended Beneficiaries:
The RTC, as well as fixed route clients, will benefit from more reliable service with new vehicles. The entire community benefits from a reduction of NOx, PM2.5, and HC emissions. The transit agency's goal is to have a fleet of all low or no emissions vehicles. The transit agency will also benefit by reducing maintenance costs associated with the older vehicles which have reached their useful lives. CNG vehicles will also benefit the agency by reducing fueling costs. These reductions in fuel costs could potentially be passed on to transit riders through improved frequency increases and improved on-time performance.
Subrecipient Activities:
There are no sub-recipients which will be in receipt of or associated with any projects within this application.
