Overview
Grant Description
Wyoming 2024 - 2025 Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases - The Wyoming 2024-2025 Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases project proposes a multifaceted strategy to bolster the state's detection and response capabilities against a wide range of infectious disease threats.
Central to this initiative is the enhancement of epidemiology capacity, laboratory capacity, and health information systems capacity.
The project prioritizes strengthening leadership and management within the Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) program, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.
Investments in health information systems facilitate seamless data exchange and analysis, enabling timely and informed decision-making.
Advanced molecular detection techniques form a cornerstone of the project, enabling rapid identification and characterization of pathogens, thereby facilitating targeted intervention strategies.
Furthermore, the integration of a national wastewater surveillance system provides real-time insights into community-level disease prevalence and emerging trends.
Recognizing the diverse nature of infectious diseases, the project addresses a spectrum of threats, including enteric, foodborne, waterborne, and zoonotic diseases, as well as healthcare-associated infections.
Special emphasis is placed on combating antimicrobial resistance through the establishment of a robust laboratory network.
Additionally, the project aims to mitigate the burden of vaccine-preventable diseases, respiratory diseases, and vectorborne and tick-associated diseases through comprehensive surveillance and intervention measures.
