Grant Description
Oregon Emerging Infections Program - Emerging Infections Program CDC-RFA-CK24-2401 Oregon Health Authority Public Health Division. This submission is Oregon's response to CDC's Emerging Infections Programs announcement (Funding Opportunity Number CDC-RFA-CK24-2401). In this application, the Public Health Division of the Oregon Health Authority requests continued funding for its Emerging Infections Program (EIP), which has been operating since 1995.

The EIP network assists with local, state, and national efforts to prevent, control and monitor the public-health impact of infectious diseases, through (1) active infectious disease surveillance; (2), applied public-health epidemiologic and laboratory activities; (3) implementation and evaluation of pilot prevention and intervention projects; and (4) rapid and flexible response to public-health emergencies and newly emerging issues for infectious diseases.

Oregon requests funding for the following specific activities: - Infrastructure and data modernization - Surveillance and reporting in response to an emerging infectious disease threat - Population-based surveillance for hospitalized cases of influenza (FluSurv-NET) - Population-based surveillance for hospitalized cases of respiratory syncytial virus infection (RSV-NET) - Population-based surveillance for hospitalized cases of COVID-19 (COVID-NET) - Active Bacterial Core Surveillance, including surveillance for legionellosis and pertussis - Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network (FoodNet) - Healthcare-Associated Infections—Community Interface, including o Active surveillance for Clostridium difficile infection o Multi-site Gram-negative Surveillance Initiative (MuGSI) o The Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Use Prevalence Survey o Active surveillance for candidemia o Active surveillance for non-tuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infection o Special projects, including Epidemiology of Carbapenem-Resistant Acinetobacter (CRA) Infections Analysis and validation of race and ethnicity data reported to the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) Data modernization: Electronic Case Report (ECR) Integration - Human Papillomavirus Vaccine Impact Monitoring Project (HPV-IMPACT) - MPOX Vaccine Effectiveness Evaluation. Funds will be used to hire epidemiology and laboratory staff; to develop and maintain robust surveillance information systems; to purchase necessary laboratory equipment and supplies; for licenses, memberships, and travel to meetings; to contract with collaborating entities; and to conduct epidemiologic research.
