Grant Description
Strengthening the National Institute of Health in the Republic of Mozambique under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) - The Instituto Nacional de Saúde - National Institute of Health (INS) is the public health institute of Mozambique, with the main mandate to generate evidence to inform policy making processes in the health sector in the country.
This mandate is fulfilled through research, laboratory reference services, surveys and surveillance, training and education, communication in health. INS became a full autonomous institution since 2017, turning into the national authority for activities related to generation of evidence in health in Mozambique.
In its new role, INS coordinates, oversees and regulates all activities related to generation of evidence in health in the country. Its organization structure has changed to become more robust to respond to its new mandate.
The INS headquarters is situated in Marracuene Village, Maputo Province, the industrial capital of the country located in southern region of Mozambique.
