Grant Description
GH21-2114: Technical Assistance to the Government of Kenya and Implementing Partners towards Sustained Health Information Systems and Digital Health Solutions for HIV/TB Epidemic Control in Kenya under the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
The technical assistance to the Government of Kenya and implementing partners towards sustained health information systems and digital health solutions for HIV/TB epidemic control in Kenya under the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) will provide technical assistance to the Government of Kenya (GoK) at national and county levels and its service delivery partners (SDPs) to develop and maintain sustainable health information systems for HIV/TB epidemic control.
Palladium and its partners, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and Health Workforce Training and Research Kenya (HETARK), will support the evolution of eHealth and mHealth systems to meet program and strategic information needs. They will also strengthen the organizational capacity of county teams and SDPs to support health information system (HIS) deployment and use, strengthen data analysis and use by stakeholders to inform programmatic direction to achieve and sustain HIV epidemic control, support optimization of national-level infrastructure to facilitate the deployment of HIS solutions, and provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health (MoH) to support the implementation of sustainability structures for HIS interventions.
These efforts will drive improvements in HIV/TB program and patient outcomes by improving programmatic coverage of HIS solutions, increasing deployment and use of systems spearheaded by counties and SDPs, increasing use of data generated from the HIS to inform program interventions, and increasing hosting of digital solutions on MoH servers.
Local capacity to support HIS implementation at all levels will be strengthened, and local ownership of HIS innovations will grow, ensuring sustained contributions of HIS solutions to epidemic control and maintenance, and to improved patient outcomes among all subpopulations and regions of Kenya.
