Maintaining and Strengthening Institutional Capacity of Maputo City Province Health Directorate in Mozambique under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)
This project will focus on strengthening the institutional capacity of the Health Services of Maputo City (SSCM) to develop, plan, and coordinate the HIV program in Maputo City. The project will also fortify leadership oversight and coordination of PEPFAR HIV prevention, care, support, and treatment services in the city.
Furthermore, this project will promote collaboration among PEPFAR implementing partners and key stakeholders involved in HIV service delivery in Maputo City. The aim is to improve the service delivery models and strengthen the health system in accordance with the Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines, policies, and retention strategies. This collaboration will contribute to accelerating progress towards the 90-90-90 goals.
Altogether, a larger role of SSCM will ensure sustained control of the HIV epidemic. Strengthening the institutional capacity of the Directorate of Health of Maputo City provides a platform for leadership and ownership of the HIV response in the province. This will result in sustainable control of the HIV epidemic in Maputo City.
