Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Application Purpose: SCRTD is expanding zero-emission bus operations at their Sunland Park facility to eventually make a complete transition to zero emission vehicles.
Activities performed: SCRTD will purchase three (3) 35-ft battery-electric buses, charging infrastructure, workforce training, and a currently leased property.
Expected outcomes: Provide emissions reductions for the communities surrounding their yellow, silver, red, and turquoise routes near Anthony, Sunland Park, and El Paso.
Intended beneficiaries: State of New Mexico (ranks in the top third of states in terms of carbon dioxide emissions per capita mainly because it is the 9th largest energy producer in the country and the 19th largest energy consumer per capita) and the counties of Dona Ana, Sierra, Otero, and El Paso.
Subrecipient activities: SCRTD will replace diesel and gasoline buses with zero emission buses for operations at their Sunland Park facility. SCRTD will also purchase a currently leased property which will help them move forward with transitioning their fleet to zero-emissions.
