Overview
Grant Description
Application purpose: This grant utilizes Section 5309 Fixed Guide Way Capital Investments Grant funds to support the on-going Portal North Bridge Project as permitted by the Section 5309 Fixed Guide Way Capital Investments Grant.
Activities performed: Funds support all necessary site work and special work in support of increasing the capacity of guideways and stations.
Expected outcomes: This project will improve reliability allowing NJ TRANSIT to operate longer and higher capacity trains.
Additionally, trains will be able to cross the bridge at 90 miles per hour, up from 60 miles per hour today.
Intended beneficiaries: Residents of New Jersey and the general public utilizing NJ TRANSIT public transportation systems throughout New Jersey and in the New York City and Philadelphia metropolitan areas.
Subrecipient activities: There are no subrecipients.
