Overview
Grant Description
Overdose Data to Action - OD2A - The Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) is applying for Surveillance Component B funding and optional Component B ME/C funding, in addition to the required Component A funding.
Under this award, CDPH will expand a low-barrier, trauma-informed infrastructure of overdose surveillance, harm reduction, recovery, and systems coordination in Chicago and suburban Cook County, in order to reduce the incidence of fatal and nonfatal overdose in Cook County.
Together with the Cook County Department of Public Health, CDPH will use data to drive evidence-based interventions that center health equity and prioritize populations disproportionately impacted by overdose.
CDPH will invest in the Narcotics Arrest Diversion Program, the city's post-overdose follow-up opioid response team, the Medication Assisted Recovery Now (MAR NOW) opioid treatment program, enhanced harm reduction services to high-risk populations in public safety and community settings, increased community drug checking capacity, continuing education and capacity building opportunities for clinicians on evidence-based substance use interventions, and the development of a large-scale drug testing and surveillance system.
