Overview
Grant Description
Application Purpose: Project will be replacing buses which have met or exceeded useful life requirements as well as placing the existing bus wash. It will also provide for training to remain current on the ever-changing transit landscape.
Activities Performed: Project will allow for the procurement of compressed natural gas and clean diesel buses to replace buses that have met or exceeded useful life. Project will also provide replacement of the current bus wash that due to the age of the equipment is no longer operating at full capacity and replacement parts are difficult to obtain. The bus wash replacement has been approved by Gerri Doyle. Training for Metro staff management and employees will be given to remain current on transit regulations and requirements.
Expected Outcomes: Metro will be able to lower emissions created by transit and work toward the goal of having 100% fleet within the useful life benchmark while streamlining the fleet and fleet management. The bus wash replacement will be able to once again recapture wastewater runoff.
Intended Beneficiaries: Metro will be able to provide the riding public with new buses that are more reliable. The maintenance staff will benefit by having access to bus washes that are more efficient and effective and also be able to work with tools that help them complete repairs more quickly.
