Grant Description
12/30/2021: This application is to request Section 5311 funds apportioned to the state of Nebraska in the amount of $6,800,000.
Purpose:
- Continue mobility management vision (University of Nebraska and Olsson Inc)
- Provide vanpool services (Enterprise)
Activities to be performed:
1. Mobility management (University of Nebraska and Olsson Inc)
2. Transit technology for FTA compliance and oversight (University of Nebraska and Olsson Inc)
3. Transit system training management (University of Nebraska and Olsson Inc)
4. The impact of transportation on Nebraska (University of Nebraska and Olsson Inc)
5. FTA safety planning and oversight (University of Nebraska)
6. FTA civil rights compliance and enhancements (University of Nebraska)
7. Public outreach in support of public transit (University of Nebraska and Olsson Inc)
8. Provide continued vanpool services (Enterprise)
Expected outcomes:
- Provide continuous oversight and management of the mobility management projects along with support and improve access to public transit.
- Provide direct planning and coordination services for public transit agencies and improve public transit services.
- Continue to facilitate information transmission between rural transit agencies, NDOT, and FTA.
- Continue to manage new annual and safety training for transit managers and transit drivers.
- Continue Title VI civil rights compliance to fit the needs of Nebraska's rural transit agencies.
- Continue improving public outreach efforts.
- Continue to provide turnkey vanpool services for commuters statewide.
Intended beneficiaries:
Rural transit agencies in Nebraska and riders commuting from rural-to-urban, urban-to-rural, and rural-to-rural areas statewide.
Subrecipient activities:
Participate in discussions with the contractors for improvements to current programs and new mobility management projects.
Participate in the continuous and new training programs.
Funding:
FY 2020 - 5311: $4,031,027
FY 2021 - 5311: $2,768,973 - (This will leave $6,301,428 from the FY 2021 apportionment of $9,070,401)
Total funds: $6,800,000.
State local funding: $1,700,000.
The state's match comes from our Nebraska's Roads Operations Cash Fund. The state of Nebraska intercity bus service needs will be adequately met for fiscal years 2021 through 2023. Governor's intercity bus certification letter is attached. For FY2019, 9% has been allocated to ICB activities.
