Grant Description
Application purpose: Provide improvements to Durham Station to enhance passenger amenities, address safety concerns, and to alleviate space needs enhancing access to transit by providing increase route frequency.
Activities performed: Design and construct improvements to Durham Station by increasing canopy coverage from 30% to 80% over passenger waiting area, add 8 additional bus bays, redesign bus lanes, provide additional seating, new restrooms, and customer service/security kiosk.
Expected outcomes: To expand access to transit, improve station amenities, and increase connections to employment, healthcare, and education opportunities.
Intended beneficiaries: Over 10,000 GoDurham transit riders who make transfers at Durham Station each day.
Subrecipient activities: None.
