Overview

Grant Description
Application purpose: Funding will be directed toward supporting the development efforts of the Eubanks Road to Southern Village Street Bus Rapid Transit Project which has been underway since 2016.

This is to certify that activities have continued since November 15, 2021.

Activities performed: Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) will develop a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) which will be 5.7 miles of dedicated bus lanes stretching from Eubanks Road to Southern Village Street.

This will encompass designing the BRT system itself which includes the creation of stations, pathways, and bike lanes.

We will engage with both internal and external stakeholders to foster public participation.

Expected outcomes: The NSBRT is set to enhance connectivity both within the corridor and in surrounding areas.

It will encourage and inspire new equitable development and redevelopment efforts while also improving access to education, housing, goods and services, and employment opportunities in the region.

The service is planned to operate every 7.5 minutes during weekday peak periods, every 20 minutes during weekday off-peak periods, and every 10 minutes on weekends.
